Does vinegar really cure everything?

I have a beagles whos ears are prone to ear wax build up because of his breed. The vet told me that instead of using a ear cleaning/ drying solution from the pet store to use a vinegar/ water solution and his ears stay much cleaner now. I love vinegar :)
