Is it bad to just plug my laptop into an outlet?

my surge protector is full because i plug my blu ray player, tv, RF modulator, and more crap into it. is it dangerous to my laptop to plug it into the wall like i would a lamp or a phone charger? if the power were to go out, would it fry my laptop?
