I have a apc 7 port usb hub, and it wont recongnize hardrive, and i pod?

so about a month ago i purchased a apc usb 7 port hub, and for some reason, everytime i plug my external hd, iPod and mouse into it, it wont recognize them...but it recognizes my memory stick, and printer...what shoudl i do?
