Poets: describe the inner surge of creativity you get prior to writing something?

for me, it's usually after seeing someone or something or hearing something (music) that i love. the words start whirling around in my head until i HAVE to write them out and i'm not satisfied until it's all out on paper organized in the exact way i want it to be. usually poems don't take me much longer to write than about 5-10 minutes. how about you guys? describe your creative process to me? i'm interested to know if anybody is similar to me, or if we're all very different, or what?
